a_red_furball Sep 10, 2005 02:22 PM

ARE THESE BLISTERS? HE'S HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2-3 DAYS NOW AND EVERYTIME I PICK HIM UP HE STARTS HISSING, IS HE GOING TO STRIKE IF STARTS HISSING? HOW MUCH HUMIDITY DOES MY CAGE NEED, I HAVE IT AROUND 50-70 AT TIMES. PLEASE HELP. DO I NEED TO TAKE HIM TO A VET? AND BY THE WAY, IS IT NORMAL FOR HIM TO BE TRYING TO CRAWL UP AT THE CORNERS OF HIS CAGE, IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S TRYING TO GET OUT? AND ONE TIME I SAW HIM LOOKING STRAIGHT UP AND THEN BACK DOWN, IS THIS IBD? HELP... I REALLY NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

Can you take a picture?

If not, take him to a vet on Monday. He's probably not in any danger of dying between now and then.

How long have you had him?

Your humidity is fine.

I've had him for about 4 months now. I've been spraying his cage with water this past few day coz its humidity is going down. I think the humidity went up to 75-85 or even 90, is this good? and how come he's been hissing a lot, could it be because he has "blisters"?
I took a good look at it, when he curls up, the scales in the "blistered" area seems to point up or sticks out (no secretions anyway). i'm trying to figure out what it is, i dont think its mites or ticks coz they would be moving around my hand after holding the snake and they should be in the head area also. is he in any danger? i went to the vet but they said i have to set up an appointment and i'm going to have it on the 24th and thats 2 weeks from now.

Are the scales just raised, or is it liquid underneath the skin?

Is it an area of scales, or individual scales that are raised?

its individual scales, and i havent seen any secretions on it. i got some snake oil for it today. is that ok to use till the vet sees him.
