Could any of you who keep your Cyclura outdoors, please post some photos of your outdoor enclosures? I'm getting ready to build some new outdoor enclosures and I could use some ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Check out my post (thought I'd share these pics) halfway down the page.
I am currently under construction. This cage will be an overall length of 15 ft x 10ft w x 12 ft tall. It will be divided into three 5 x 10 sections. I am making it out of a canopy and 1"x2" heavy gauge wire. The floor will be cemented on the borders about 2 feet from the edge all around and then filled in with sand and sod to avoid them from digging out. I'll also be putting in large branches(now that we've been hit by a hurricane) and burrows.
I will be housing 2.2 Cyclura Lewisi Hybrids and
1.2 High white C. Pectinatas.
Manny, I would wire the bottoms. The chances of them digging out are pretty good if you don't. I know, I made the mistake of thinking concrete edges would prevent this, and animals dug out.
Other than that, cool enclosures.
Yeah... I was going to wire the bottom but I was scared it would tear off their nails if they began to try to dig through the wire. I just may do it now especially in the Pectinata cage. Man-o-man can they dig a burrow.
Have you had any of yours dig down to the mesh and hurt them selves?
Manny
Never had a cyclura injure itself trying to dig through the screen. I use 2x3" wire, like that used to fence-out rabbits. It has worked well for me. After awhile the grass grows over it and it is hardly noticable. Used a coil of green no.14 electric wire to attach it to the chainlink sides.

Nice idea using the PVC fence, I bet it is too slippery for them to climb. The main cage below is 20x50, I have subdivided it into two 10x50's, but have left access between the 2 halfs. It is the same as adding visual barriors. It still needs alot of landscaping, but do not want to invest too much time as we are looking to move.

I'm getting ready to build a larger outdoor enclosure for my rhino and your suggestions will be very helpful!
Chris
Has the PVC been a perfect solution to prevent climbing? I would like to make a nice looking enclosure like this and am very interested in how you did it, please let me know!
