Carpet Pythons Eating Fish?!?!?!?!

Dan6971 Sep 10, 2005 06:01 PM

After seeing these photos, I wonder if I have a chance...

My fiancee and I are to be married in two weeks. Last night, we spoke to a girl working at a local Petland Pet Store and she was showing my fiancee how nice snakes can be and how much she loves them.

Anyway, my fiancee, Brandi, is really most concerned with snakes' eating habits. Mainly speaking - they eat mice/rats. I told her that Garter snakes ate bugs and fish and she seemed more inclined to allow that.

Anyway, I just saw this link on this web-site, showing Carpet Pythons eating fish... Is it possible for any Jungle Carpet Pythons to eat fish if that's all they are given? Even if they have eaten mice since birth (in June 2005)?

1) Snakes are better and cheaper than wives.

2) Only feed when shes not home. My GIRLFRIEND went into a Panamint Rattlesnake cage with 12 in. tweezers to remove a mouse. The snake was 3ft long which means that it can strike at least 1 ft. The mouse is now named Pauly and is a pet. Do you know how insulting that is?

3) Do not let her take a snake out when you are not home. My GIRLFRIEND took out my GTP without my permission when I was out playing poker and tried to kiss it or something. She got kissed right back in the lip! TEE HEE HEE!

The bones and fin spikes are dangerous for your snake. In the wild they can go straight through a snake without harm, but why risk injury or infection to your snake because your girlfriend doesnt like what you feed it.

You'd probably have a better chance of teaching your girlfriend to swallow those fish whole.

Jungles (and Irian Jaya) Carpets can be tricky to get off of mice and on to rats, so there's not much of a chance that it's going to take fish.

My wife doesn’t like what I eat…she got over it (well my second wife got over it). It shouldn’t be that big of an issue with her…and if it is, she won’t stop at just telling you what your pets should eat! Man, your not even married yet dude! Grow some b@#$ and tell her “SNAKES GOTA EAT TOO”!

All kidding aside, my first wife made me get rid of my snakes before she would move in. It took me almost 15 years and a new wife to get back into it. My new wife didn’t like snakes but was willing to give it a try, she really likes them now.

Good luck with your companionship issues….. pets and wife!

Thanks man.

I think/hope she'll come through. I think that her seeing me upset and sad will play on her heart strings and she'll cave.

Hey Dan,
Ever consider getting yourself a Bearded Dragon instead? The just eat crickets and veggies, and they have a cool name and they like to sit around with you while you watch TV...some of the things you said earlier were important.

Only frozen fish, thawed. Wouldn't take a chance on cold blooded parasites in the fish. Still..it's a weird food item for a Carpet. Not too many arboreal fish.....
