Todays finds

I found a queen snake hotspot today when I went out for a short time. The one has had a rough life so far-note that the tail is missing, with considerable scarring and swelling to the area around it. The other one is in blue. Also found a northern water snake, but that pic was too blurry to use.

Good luck to all going on the survey tomorrow.

I can't beleive we didn't find any queen snakes at the study site. I can't think of a single reason they wouldn't be there!

Unless...maybe the area flooded very badly within the past few years and either killed them off or they moved out and just haven't returned yet.

When / if they return, they'll find a booming crayfish population waiting for them!
