Hydrophobia?

wulfyoukai Sep 10, 2005 08:59 PM

I read that iggies like soaking in warm water and can swim, but it seems like my iggy is actually afraid of being in water. I'm not sure if it's the bathtub, but whenever I try giving her a bath she becomes really agitated and panicked, and tries to jump out. She doesn't look comfortable at all.

Also, I'm pretty sure they can swim - I've seen other iggies before - but Zade has never made any movements of swimming before, and I'm afraid of accidentally drowning her if the water level is above her head.

It's not much of a problem, but if anyone knows why she's like this, I'd really appreciate it. :D

Forgot to add this in my previous post. Zade is also terrified of plastic containers. That, or food pellets I have no idea why. When I first got her, I bought Zoo Med iguana food pellets for her, but as soon as she glimpsed the container, she got all puffed up and whipped at it. That was three years ago, and to this day she still hates it with a passion. If I take out the pellets one by one, she'll eat it, but if I pour a handful in a bowl, she gets angry again. Anyone know why?

What else are you feeding her besides pellets? Colors can trigger certain behaviors in Igs. Could be she was spooked by that. JN

Green leafy veggies and a variety of fruits. The pellets are just brown...
