Broken beak?

kiwiturtle Sep 10, 2005 10:51 PM

My RES seems to have a small piece of his beak missing near the corner of his mouth (see photo). Is this normal? Thanks in advance for your input. Some info on the turtle: 3-4 inch big, male, eats and swims fine, very energetic, escaped his tank last week but thankfully was safety recovered (the beak problem happened before his escape).

This is a better photo that shows the corner of his mouth that seems to have a small piece missing (blue arrow).

it looks like there is something different, but if he is fine and eating, and there is no sign of infection you shouldnt have anything to worry about. just keep an eye on it for any sign of infection like redness or white fuz.
