One thing I've never liked about corn snakes is that, as hatchlings, they look like hatchling corn snakes. Sure, I can tell some apart, but look at them in a year and the change is almost unbelievable.
Last year was my first breeding blood pythons. Some hatched out as incredible animals, obviously the "grade A" of the clutch. Others were okay, some were pretty drab looking. I ended up with 3 unsold, not holdbacks, but the leftovers no one picked. I wasn't really bothered, what's 3 more snakes? But they've definitely taught me a lesson. I can't predict how they'll turn out! I've seen some pictures of the "picks", and they are definitely super nice. But what about this one, a shaggy dog no one wanted? For 6+ months, nothing special at all, but then,..... the ugly duckling became the swan. Here's a pic from this morning.
