Permit Questions

dryseeker Sep 11, 2005 11:48 AM

Hi everyone-Im new to the forums & have really enjoyed reading all the comments & wisdom in this one. I dont own any Drymarchon at this point & have decided to commit myself to finding one no matter how long the wait or price. I own several Blackmilk snakes which I hoped would satisfy my craving for an Eastern. They are wonderful snakes which I treasure but reading thru this forum & seeing the pictures of some of the Easterns has me dreaming again.I was curious about the federal permit required for an Eastern. Is it an automatic approval when you apply for one? Does anybody have any insight on how to increase your chances? I've dreamed of an Eastern for 30 years & Im determined to make it happen.Any info would be vastly appreciated!

I followed the direction given to the letter.

If it asks for picture and dimensions of your cages, take them and give them.

Make sure you have the breeder’s information and address. Check all the paper work carefully before you send. This way it doesn’t bounce back to you after ninety days with insufficient information.

I typed out all the answers on a separate sheet with the numbers / paragraphs that corresponded to the questions.

I have never been refused a permit. I couldn’t tell you what would be considered a stopper other than the lack of general information requested.

Good luck

It's hard to tell from your posts but do you realize you need to have the snake and the seller lined up BEFORE applying for the permit. When you get the permit it only covers that specific Eastern from that seller.
