THIS IS GETTING REDUNDANT BUT I NEED SOME SHED HELP

reptilesexotics1 Sep 11, 2005 12:37 PM

I have over 50 Ball Pythons and never had this problem before. I have all of them in Animal Plastic Racks. Every single snake (95% of the time) has a perfect shed. I have one baby that is having a hard time! Ive been working with her since she hatched (5 months ago). This is by far the worst she has gotten. Her skin is extremely dry and wrinkly. Ive done everything I know to do to get her to shed out but she wont do it. Ive tried soaking her in water for several hours (multiple times). Ive tried taking a shipping bag soaking it in water and puting the snake in and leaving it overnight. Ive tried just spaying the tub down with water to increase humidity. I still cant figure out why the skin wont come off. She has had this shed for 2 and a half weeks now. Any additional advice ?

Do u use that shed ease? that stuff is awsome you can spray it directly on or add to water, i do both and soak as you indicated. Other than that don't know what the deal is.

Take everything out of her tub except for her hide. Add 1 cm of water to the bottom. Leave her overnight...

I've seen this work wonders with older animals when nothing else seemed to work. Hopefully it will work for your snake too.

What worked for my son's gecko who had bad shedding feet was that "shedaid" you buy at the pet store. we soaked her a few times in it and all the layers came off gradually. We lost two toes but it saved us from losing many more. Could work for you. I have no idea what is in the stuff. I usually wait for my snakes to come out of blue then I put them in a sterlit container with wet papers towels in them and put the lid on. I put this on a heating pad (under half the container) and usually after an hour we're all down and the shed comes off.
