ReptiSun 10.0?

knowzilla Sep 11, 2005 12:39 PM

I am currently changing all my UV bulbs over from ReptiGlo 8.0 to ReptiSun 5.0 until the ReptiSun 10.0 are available in Canada. I was woundering if anyone has used the 10.0 bulbs and their experences with them. I decided to change as the ReptiGlo 8.0 did not seem to last the entire 6months before it needed changing. Any comments good or bad would be aprecated to help me decide.

I have been using them since they have been available. I've been using them in my adult cages, as well as my baby rearing rack. I do have a UVB meter, and they do provide I good amount of UVB for a fluorescent bulb. The highest I have tested to date actually. I have tested a few mercury vapors (4 months old) that did not provide as high UVB levels as the 10.0's at recommended distances. In my baby rack I utilize both Repti-Sun 10.0 fluorescent bulbs, and Mega Ray mercury vapor bulbs. The Mega Ray is the highest UVB producing bulb I have found, and surprisingly for a mercury vapor bulb they hold up exceptionally well, and decay at a fairly even pace..

are you sure no places online will ship into Canada?? Check out www.bigappleherp.com, or www.lllreptile.com for the 10.0's.. If your interested in the Mega Ray mercury vapor bulbs they can be seen, and purchased on www.reptileuv.com, and for us in the states can be purchased at www.reptiledirect.com with FREE shipping.
