no problems.........

if you like you can coat it with child/kitchen safe water sealer......

......I have one homemade rack...no sealer......it's fine.....

.......I know people that have used pine shavings and put $20,000 snakes on it.....

I have to disagree with you.. I have snakes worth 20k also and I would NEVER put them on Pine shavings, Pine gives off fumes that is hard on Ball Pythons and can cause respiratory infections. Cypress mulch or Aspen is much safer , I just use newspaper or paper towels for the shoe boxes, trying to save a buck with Pine shavings will cost you alot more in health problems in the end , Pine is for rodents not Reptiles!!! For what it's worth, I made my hide boxes out of pine and have had no problems.
