Cypress mulch and too much humidity now

Melisssss Sep 11, 2005 04:16 PM

I mixed Forest floor and the TRex brand together in order to have enough for all 3 of my cages and the store stock was low. Now my humidity is off the charts and my cages keep steaming up. Today I shoveled out all the mulch and set it on newspaper out in the driveway all day to dry out but the Walmart indoor outdoor humidity thermo says its Hi again. The cages haven't steamed up yet and I don't know if they will but do you have any suggestions? I never expected this. It feels very dry or maybe just a tad damp atm inside my Vision cages.

......a bunch of my new cages are steamy all te time now in the front.....balls don't mind.......

what makes me sick is that they also dump all the water on top of that and make it worse every day...

they live with it...they like humidity.

winter is coming.....humidity will drop.......all will even out.

For the cages that I use either reptibark or mulch in they usually steam up for a day or three sometimes more depending on the time of year - but it drops down to normal. A few days isn't going to hurt the snake - I just maternally incubated my first clutch - the mom was in 100% humidity for 56 days and had no adverse reactions to it.
