Question about birdseed

Sunfox Jul 18, 2003 05:45 PM

How old should a uro be before being given birdseed as a treat? Ra now eats juvie iguana pellets from my hand, and his greens every day from his food bowl. I noticed that he crunches every single pellet of the iggy food and was wondering if he's ready for birdseed.
He's about 11 months old now (his birthday is August 24th).

Thanks all

you can give your uro birdseed now, i give me uro finch bird seed, the seeds are smaller so that they would be easire to digest. if you choose other seeds, just make sure you sift out the sunflower seeds, but i recommend finch seeds my uro loves to eat them and its kinda funny to hear that crackling sound when they bite them(lol). hope this helps

Your uro is gonna love the birdseed!!! There are tons of kinds, but I found that Hartz makes a primarily millet finch food which i found at a local walmart for cheap. It has only three ingredients. Be careful bc many birdseeds have tons of different types of ingredients and sometimes contain sunflower pieces, which are bad for uro's. Make sure to read the label just in case.
