HI. well i got my 1st blood about a month ago. he was very mean at fist. I got taged every time i put my hand in his cage but after time about a week and some gloves he is awsome snake. he clamed down fast i least i think so. You need to under stand the snakes behavor. and be formilar with snakes. I had balls and red tailed boas before but hands down I like my blood better. not having to worry about if he going to eat as with a ball python or getting like 16 ft like a rtb. by the way i have a red blood. good luck hope this is helpful

If you have some experience with snakes and understand snake behavior, you'll be fine. Get a CB baby, and you'll be even better. There is still a stigma attached to the species because only imports were available.

I've personally never been struck at by my blood, but then, I picked the calmest of the litter. Talk to the breeder, and do some reading, but I think everyone here will agree that they aren't nasty monsters, and you'll LOVE THEM!!!

I have 3 Borneos of varying sizes, 1 black and a pair of reds.
Only the newly aquired red has ever made any attempt to bitem but
he is starting to calm down, and i expect him to be like the others
pretty soon.
Make sure you get a CB animal and you won't go wrong.

I have kept bloods for a few years now and have learned that their reputation is largely undeserved. I don't recomend them for a persons first snake, but if you have a few years of working with other snakes under your belt a blood is a joy to own. Start with a captive bred baby and you should do fine. Babies can be a little snappy but almost all baby snakes are. Remember they are not Ball pythons! Stay away from adult imports!good luck!
