Question about Skippys new digs

hevychevy427 Sep 12, 2005 09:53 AM

Skippy moved into his palace yesterday. I am still working on the furnishings. The question is.The set up came with a fixture that runs the entire length of the tank and it has a 2.0 UVB bulb in it now. I had this small fixture in the picture on his 10 gallon that he was in...it is an 8.0.. Should I use the big tube that goes with the set up or just set his little one up there. I cannot get a large 8.0 right now..Thanks.
Nancy
Also thanks for all the advice on taming him...but I cannot let him roam I have two inside dogs.

Use the big one. The more the better usually.

I would actually use the smaller bulb if its an 8.0. The 2.0 doesnt have enough UVB to be usefull.

Also, your baby looks awfully small, at that age he definately shouldnt be on sand, its very dangerous. Only full grown adults should be considered candadites for sand and even then its only with descretion. Babies should only be housed on paper towels, carpet, lineloium, tile, or shelf liner.

Oops, I read the first post wrong. I thought he meant wether to use the large or small ballast for an 8.0 bulb.

Use both though.

The tank he is in is rather large and then there is the optical quality of the camera I used. He is 2 and a half mos old.
Thanks for all of the advice everyone

Cool. Even at 8inches though he is still too small to be on sand. Once he is over a year old you can consider using sand as a substrate. Until then stick with safer stuff like paper towels or tile
