Snake Cage Heating

bast Sep 12, 2005 11:06 AM

Hello All,

I have to move my snakes home. I have 4 small snakes to house. (1.1 Cal kings and 1.1 Children's pythons) All are in their own shoe box right now. I also have small Neodesha cages that I could use. I have a spare room with a metal shelving unit. I'd like to keep the snakes in that room. Since the spare room is "room temperature" ( about 65-70F) I need a way to heat up the snakes. I'd like to move all of the snakes to Neodesha cages to give them more room as they grow. What is the best method for metal shelving and Neodesha cages?

Thank you so much for the input.

Brian

Flexwatt and a grounded thermostat since your using metal in the construction.. A johnson controls or ranco will work fine for you

Flex Watt will probably be the best method but I have started using some of the heat rope that is available out there. I use Big Apple Herp ropes because they run a sale on them buy 2 get 1 for free so the price is very good.

I like Flex Watt but I like the fact that heat ropes are already set up and waterproof, etc.

Use a thermostat, either a on/off style or a proportional unit. If you have a lot of money in reptiles on your rack system I think it is worth the money to go with a Herp Power Proportional Thermostat or a Helix.

Winston
