I have a problem. I bought a bd about a year ago. the bd is about a year and a half old and 16 inches. when the bd was 12 inches long i brought it to a reptile store where they looked at it quickly and sexed it a female. Then when i had her down at school with me i went to the pet store and the owner looked at it and sexed it a male.

I am confused because he/she has mixed traits. it bobs its head every now and then but also does the arm waving. it does have some coloration on its neck, and seems to have stopped growing at 16 inches (hasent grown any really in like 3 or 4 months) but im just confused as of now to what sex it is.

can anyone help? is there anything in particular i can look for, i kno there is a slight bulge, not much of one at all the reptile person didnt see it, and the pet store thought they saw it.

I do have pictures of her but i dont kno how to put them in here so if you can tell me how i will post them.

the best way to sex dragons is to hold it on a flat surface (table or hand), facing away from you, Hold the tail up at about a 90 degree angle and while twisting it slightly to right and left, look at the base of the tail, near the vent (on tail side of the vent). If you see a single bulge, its a female, if there are two bulges its a male. Keep in mind that young dragons are not as easy to sex as older dragons.

Both males ane females do the head bubbing and arm waving thing. Though it is used during mating, it is also dominance/submission displays as well. The dominant dragon will do head bubbing and the submissive will do arm waving.
