Langtry / Sanderson Last Weekend

ectimaeus Sep 12, 2005 01:11 PM

Made a quick trip out last Friday nite. The alterna are hatching in Langtry. Found a new baby full of lizard 6 miles west on a cut. It rained in Sanderson Saturday evening so went west to Marathon to see some critters. Lots moving atrox, scutes, virdis, bulls, garters, and a bunch of incects and arachnids. No alterna. Sunday it was threatening rain in Sanderson again. Went back to Langtry and looked till about 1 am. Nada. I saw one hatchling atrox at Shumla on the way home. Only snake all nite.

I thought everyone knew that rattlesnakes retained their eggs until hatching. I guess the most educated might call them neonates but, I have a hard time trying to remember how to spell it. You know getting old.

I started towards your place and ran into a big rain. I decided that since I had already had a shower at the motel that I would not need another. I did not have the top on the jeep. I also did not want to get it muddy on that caliche road. "Fun, fun, fun, till daddy took the T-Bird away". Maybe next time or when you are going.
