Flexwatt Heat Tape...

sprastr Sep 12, 2005 05:36 PM

I've been kicking around the forums for some time and I'm not a stranger to keeping reptiles but I've never seen this stuff available in stores and still am not quite sure what it is or how it works. So what's the low down? Can you thermostat it just like you would a heat mat? Thanks.

Steve

Flexwatt is the same thing as those fancy UTH heat mats that you pay 10x the cost of flexwatt. Flexwatt just dosen't have the fancy cover on it. Besides, it sits underneath the cage and you don't even see it. For 2 11"x12" pieces, 1 cord and 1 protective clip set from Big Apple Herp I paid $20.00.

I too go to Big Apple Herp for their heat tape and I currently have over 250 feet running on many different rack systems. I am a big fan since I always get my order the next day from them.

I have seen the tape for a few pennies cheaper in a couple of different places but I don't bother because I am just about guaranteed to get my stuff quickly and Big Apple always sends my orders packed like they are sending the crown jewels.

I also like the fact that Big Apple has these special copper clips that I have not seen on anyone elses website.

I must also mention that I have received a couple orders from the Bean Farm as well and they were good too but they are much too far from me for timely deliveries.

Regards,

Winston
