Nice looking leo!

But definitely not a carrot-tail. Not what I would market as a hypo if I was selling him myself but yes, he's hypo'ed out quite a bit and will probably continue to do so...then again, I know I'm picky about my "hypo" labeling, lol!

But heck, he's a nice looking little dude.

I'd be careful with the hide with the magnets on it since I've seen geckos lose their tails in those because if you don't put the piece outside the tank on just right the piece inside the cage bounces and can catch the geckos tail or toes in it other than that its a really nice set up.

When properly grounded and situated, those hides are very safe. I have heard of an incident with a baby corn snake, but it would be very hard for a gecko to get its tail trapped. I've used several different sizes of those hides since they first came out - even with my small sub-tropicals. They love them and they're extremely safe.

As you said, just take care when replacing the outer side. To incur an accident would take a great deal of noticable displacement of the inner hide piece and the gecko -- it would have to already be stuck in between the hide levels. When the outer piece is removed, the maximum amount of space between the hide levels and the glass is less than a millimeter with an appropriately grounded inner recepticle. No gecko or snake can get stuck or harmed unless the inner component is greatly displaced and the outer cover is then slammed back into place without conscience...

Basically, these things are fine. The critters love them. But if you're particularly clumsy, an intensely anxious worrier, or a complete moron, refrain from using them.
