eye problem...any ideas?

bam171bam Sep 12, 2005 11:00 PM

I know this isn't a KS but you all may be able to help me. Just curioius if anybody has ever experienced this in any of their snakes before. The eye seems to be swelling up more and more each day. What is this? Any way to fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dewey

i had a bull snake with what appears to be the same problem. after months of searching and 300.00 in vet bills i found out (here of all places - go figure) that this condition is caused by a blocked nasel duct. the eye will swell up quite a bit and stay that way for a few days, until the pressure from the swelling causes the duct to clear.
in my case, this happened about once every three months or so.

hope this helps and saves you some stress.

I know a friend that had a grey banded king that looked similar to that. Never found out what caused it, but the snake never cleared up and died a few weeks later. If I was you I would get that animal to a good herp vet asap.Let us know what happens.

Good luck,
wes
