Did anyone else go to the ETHS show this year?
For my two cents, I'll say that this year's show was disappointing. First is the new ordinance against large snakes. As a result, we didn't have Bob Clark or Dave Barker. Second, and probably the most telling issue, is that none of the great breeders from Lousiana were there. I always enjoy seeing Tim Ricks, for one.
I'm sure this has been posted over and over, but I hope to God that those guys are able to get back on their feet. And it's not just because I like their snakes.
It's more like Thanksgiving or Christmas, when you see relatives you don't see for a year or two. I've been looking forward to seeing those guys since 1999, when I bought a little greyband from my buddy Mitch who lives (or lived) in Slidell. Every year he remembered me and asked me how my snake was doing. I just met Tim last year. We connected because he lived about a block away from where my brother lived in Metarie, which is barely just outside New Orleans.
Sorry to dump on you guys, especially since I haven't been here in a while, but the show yesterday kind of brought it all home. I went there praying to see Mitch and Tim, but of course they weren't there.
Anyway, if anybody got anything good at the show, I'd love to hear about it! I noticed that someone finally brought a couple subocs, but unfortunately for me they were all males.
Cheers!
