Need help identifying my tortoise

lukyhare Sep 13, 2005 05:38 AM

Does anyone have any idea what type of tortoise this is. I want to make sure i know what species it is so that i can get the proper care knowledge for him/her.

Some people have mentioned that he looks like a hingedback, not sure since the pics ive seen on the web look a little different.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

looks to be a baby elongated tortoise - check the web for care sheets on this species -

Its head looks like a Indotestudo elongata to me also, as well as the dark spot on the forward vertebral scute, which is quite common with this species. I have 3 of them, but none have a carapace that dark.

I've been checking out websites of the elongated tortoises, the pics dont seem to be too similar. Also my tortoise does not have the elongated type of body that seems to be prevalant in most elongated tortoises. And also, as you mentioned, his carpace seems to be much darker.
Will have to keep searching.
Thanks for the replies.
