Can an Egyptian live with Malis

TX-Tbone Sep 13, 2005 02:38 PM

I have 2 malis, male and female. They are about 2 years old. I am considering getting an egyptian and was wondering if they can be caged together. My cage is a self-built 2'x4'... I might try posting some pics of it later.

Just as a side note: It's not crucial to me that they be caged together. I can easily get or build another cage for the egyptian. I'm just asking.

First you have an established pair, which may upset things if say the egyptian was a male.

Had my female egyptian with my male saharan for 3 years, thought all was wonderful, even though the saharan stayed a normal small size, and the egyptian just kept growing....

They seemed to be insperatable, so I thought. Something went haywire around breeding time, I started to notice the 2 giving little bites and such.

Until one day I walked in to see my big female with the male in her mouth , she tossed him from side to side like a toy or a ragdoll, like he was weightless to her. She probably would have killed him, or come close to it, so glad I was there at that moment. They are STRONG lizards.

Never been together since. The egyptain hisses and makes all sorts of threatning movements when she sees him near her tank.

I advice ya keep things the way they are Get another tank !

Ok, thanks for the info. Like I said, it won't be a big deal for me to get/build another cage. It was more curiosity on my part. Seems like it would look cool for them all to be together... But not at that risk.
