New to corns, is this a good start?

gypsy1dragon Sep 13, 2005 03:05 PM

I just got my corn snakes at the Daytona Beach show. These are my first actual pet snakes. And I do hope to breed them in the future.

My nine new babies are a pair of charcoals het pewter, a pair of hypo het lavender, and pair of Kathy Love's ghost (absolutely gorgeous, tyvm Kathy) and an extra ghost female. All are doing well except my male charcoal had a small regurge and I emailed Kathy Love and we have him on her recurge protocol, seems to be doing well. (Again, tyvm Kathy Love).

I was just wondering how my beginning collection looks to experienced breeders. Mine won't breed for at least 2 years, so I have time to make other acquisitions.

Thanks for your opinions. sorry for the long post.

first off Kathy is a great person and corn snakes wouldn't be where they are without her and you would do great to do everything exactly how she says, lol, she knows what she is talking about. second, if the animals you got are what you wanted than your collection is wonderful. I myself have a very small collection of corns (1.1 reverse oketee's, 1.0 albino, 0.1 candycane) but they are the ones that I love to work with. will they get me rich, nope but every offspring I produce, if i'm unable to sell, will be gladly kept. People get caught up on making the next high dollar morph, that they forget, every animal produced doesn't get sold and why keep something you don't want? So basically have fun, make a few dollars, and most of all enjoy your animals to the fullest.

Your snakes are beautiful. Oh, yes, my little babies are the ones I want and I would happily keep all their babies. I was just wondering if I got a good mixture to breed, not really concerned about prices, or sales. I would like to know if there are different combinations I should make with them to get known morphs from them. Doesn't really matter which morphs I get, I think they are all great.
I can't wait to get a camara so I can post some pics of my new babies, while they are still babies!

Thanks for your reply
