According to my research, a first time layer may lay only 1 egg and it may be infertile. Females generally lay clutches of 2 eggs. My female lays 2 at a time, both in short period of time.

Yeah...but if she's being housed with a male, she will keep laying and laying and laying her clutches (2 in each, as was explained).

Better make sure she's on the proper supplementation schedule for a gravid female, otherwise she may become calcium deficient and her tail will look like a stick.

Sometimes a first time female will lay only one egg. She can lay another clutch in 2-5 weeks, if she is healthy there should be two. And sometime a first time female will only lay one clutch the first season. They can also lay only one egg at the end of the breeding season. Also if she is older she may only lay one egg per clutch. If another egg was coming it would have been there within a very short time, minutes.

This was my first season and I have one female that laid three clutches of two, another that is on her third clutch of two, another has had only one clutch of two and one that just laid her first clutch of two.
