hatchling Madagascar Ground gecko

Sed8ed Sep 13, 2005 08:02 PM

Hi. I'm new here and was hoping that someone could help me with my NEW hatchling Madagascar ground gecko.

I was so suprised today when I checked on the eggs that I have incubating, and something jumped out on to my arm than the floor and ran like a mofo to hide. Took about 20 minutes to catch... but now it's safe and sound... but what do I do with it?

I've read that they don't eat until after their first shed. Are there any things I need to be aware of? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a picture... if anyone wants to see.

Thats awesome, glad ya found the lil guy, seems hes quite spunky!

They will usually eat after a few days, pinhead crickets. main thing besides making sure he eats is to keep him hydrated, and

I have heard others say they keep them in something small, so they can keep an eye on what they are eating.

A big congratulations to you, I will let others who have this species do some more posting on them just popped in to say glad to have you and wish you all the best with your hatchling!

And hey don't ask if anyone wants to see his pic, YES we love to see babies,

Post away!

Well, apparently the images didn't want to work... I suppose I posted them wrong. Check him out here. He's in a smaller container in with his folks... I didn't expect him when he hatched and therefore didn't have the right habitat set up for him. It's a temporary home, but it'll do for now. He's so small, I don't imagine he needs alot of room just yet.

He ate yesterday for the first time. I was so proud watching him chase the pinheads around.
