Almost Done... tell me what you think

ZFelicien Sep 14, 2005 03:38 PM

I like to see my snakes so I've been working on this for about 3 weeks... could have finished in one but the hardware store ran out of lots of stuff i wanted... any way here it is i call it my multilevel display enclosure

top half

bottom half (not finished)

the whole thing (top, bottom, hatchling section for holdbacks and purchased animals)

hatchling rack? not really a rack but it works fine for me... i may separate the shoe boxes with plywood eventually (left side of photo)

So Watcha Think?

here's the top half of my first enclosure

Nice and spacious. If I was a kingsnake I would want to live in one of those deluxe suites. LOL

well the cage looks great, but Pine shavings are not a good Idea for any snake, they can ingest them and cause impaction, also the dust can clog their nostrils and/or heat pits if they have them.(not sure on the pits I don't deal with Kings at all.)You might want to consider using cypress mulch instead, it also hold moisture better then the pine shavings and isn't all too much more expensive.

Did you stain or seal the wood. if you didn't you might want to do that so the wood will last a while. Also is it possible to post the plans incase someone like me or someone else would like to build a set up like that. Thanks Paul

ZFelicien Sep 19, 2005 12:48 PM

the wood was coated with polyurethane and the floor of each enclosure has has vinyl tile as well... i can't really post the plans because i sort of built this from an idea in my head and didn't take pix while i was building... i do have similar plans for another enclosure but i rather be contacted via email for the plans.
