Melamine rack question....airflow

EmberBall Sep 14, 2005 05:13 PM

Ok, I bought a melamine rack over 4 years ago, small one, total of 10-12 tubs, nice baby, or yearling rack. Anyways, I never could get the heat cord to work, I had to put the plug on myself, and probably wired it wrong, got another heat cord, same thing, never worked, got peeved, and put it in the garage. Well, I now NEED it, got a new heat cord, plug already attached, and it works fine My question is, can the tubs get too humid, and have poor quality air due to lack of air circulation? Does anyone put holes in the tubs? If so, how well do they then keep the heat?

I drill holes in all my tubs. If I ever find exra time...I drill some more. I hae not noticed trouble holding heat but I am using a temp gun for readings so I guess it is quite possible the ambient temps are suffering a little. But nothing I noticed. I really didnt think it mattered much as long as they could warm up a cool down. I would be more concerned about stagnant air. I dont worry as much about ambient air with BPs as I do with more equitorial snakes.
