taming of the shrew

fujikin Sep 14, 2005 09:38 PM

I have read many posts here about how to tame a skittish dragon. Syd will run away anytime i go to pick him up.
He will also back off and eventually run off if he thinks my hand is too close.
I began the taming technique that is, bonding with him just before lights out. This is working pretty well, except nearly each time i have held him, he has pooped on my shirt. i told him that is not going to make me put him back in the terrarium.
Also when i put Syd back in his terrarium he just begs to get back out.

So, this pooping thing, should i be flattered or feel like an incompetant beardie owner?

you can have hinm soak in a bath for awhile before taking him out as bathing usually causes them to poop...

When I first got my bearded dragon, she was a baby, and all she would do was run away and bite. I learned to calm her down by wrapping her up in a blanket, and lo and behold, she calmed down and started sleeping everytime I put her in there. Now as an adult, she is a very calm, friendly dragon, and insists on sleeping in her blanket, becauase she is so used to it now.
