Behavior - please give input

neyler Sep 15, 2005 05:46 AM

I know when I post it's usually always about the behavior of my savannah monitor. I also know that they don't become tame like a dog or cat. Because he's still young/small (5 months now), I limit my handling of him, but keep a normal feeding/cleaning schedule twice a day. In the past 2 weeks, I have noticed him becoming more hissy than before if he thinks I'm going to touch or grab him. Alot of posts have said they he will calm down with age. I'm just worried because I don't want to end up with a 4ft a-hole of a savannah and would like to try and prevent it if possible while he's still a managable size.

Thanks,

Nicole

Hi Nicole,
Just keep to your regimen of feeding, cleaning, etc and he/she will calm down with time - when you're a small Bosc monitor, everything wants to eat you, so he acts fierce and accordingly = be patient and give time...
good luck,
mbayless

Not only Boscs, but all monitors in general when they are young.
