My beardie is changing color

keia89 Sep 15, 2005 10:16 AM

i got lola last march and at first she was kind of a dull green with orange spots... soon after i brought her home and put her in the tank, she turned almost completely orange and brown, but now im finding as she gets bigger her color is fading with each shed, im not doing anything different and she appears to be healthy, what is going on?

sometimes dragons do lose their colors at maturity and there isnt' anything you can do about it. However, color can be lost if certain pigments are missing in the diet (though this isn't completely proven with bearded dragons, it has been proven with pink flemingos). Add colorful greens/vegetables to her regular salads could help. Also, if it hasn't been changed recently, change your UVB bulb as well.
