Lots of fluid in his poo. Please help

icemom Sep 15, 2005 09:26 PM

My beardie's poo worries me: there is substantial amount of fluid in it and it wasn't sausage-like shape today (sorry for the comparison). Is it considered diarrhea? The only thing that he ate out of ordinary is a couple of pieces of honeydew. But I think that the amount of fluid is increasing compare to a wile back. What does it mean and what should I do? Could it be parasites?
Thanks. Irina

My little guys poo is sometimes watery. I think it's when he had a wee bit too much fruit. He can be messy if he wants, lil stinker.

Well, vet found worms in his fecal. Medicine time for us...

I think it is great that you acted so quickly and took the lizard to the vet. Trying to get people to take their animals to the vet on these forums is like pulling teeth. I commend you highly!

If you feed your animals anything that is an animal and is not frozen for more than 30 days, you HAVE TO ASSUME it is being exposed to parasites. Herps SHOULD be checked at least once a year.

Would you mind posting back with the diagnosis and treatment? It helps the rest of us keep track of what is exactly happening to our captive herps.

He'll be taking Panacur for a few days now. Vet said that he has ringworms and it couldn't have come from crickets but rather from infected dragons. Crickets are pretty much the only live insect that he eats excluding occational superworm.
