Another frodo pic and some concerns!

asia2003 Sep 16, 2005 08:06 AM

Here is a closeup of the little guy, his coloring looks really dull in the pic, this pic was taken straight out of the shipping box!

He is a super friendly little thing, and loves his basking spot, but he still hasnt eaten anything, I deliberately bought the same foods that doug was feeding to make it easier, and more familiar to him. Has anyone else had this problem with a newly shipped uro? Doug's caresheet says that they are picky eaters during the first week, but he hasnt eaten a thing!

Thanks....

I got my ,male saharan from doug, he didnt eat for 2 weeks after i got him.i just gave him a whole collard leaf (that way i could see if he took a bite) and a few peas (could count to see if he ate any) until he started eating then I started chopping up his food, giving him a good mix of greens and stopped with the peas except for treats.

Wow, ok that's a relief, of course I was immediately thinking "what if he gets dehydrated??" but the more I read, the more I am realizing that this is perfectly normal.

So far, so good with the little guy though, he is super friendly, doesnt mind being picked up etc. So far he sleeps a lot of the time, but travelling from WA to KY in a couple of days would wear anyone out I think.

Thanks so much!!

if it boils down to him eating absolutely nothing and you are concerned, you can either soak him again in a couple days or try seeing if he will take water from a syringe. hopefully he will eat for ya soon, have you tried enticing him with pesticide free flowers? bee pollen can also help in enticing them

Yep, I tried enticing him with a dandelion flower yesterday, which he seemed a little interested in, so this is good.

I soaked him this morning for 10 mins, so I guess a little time is all we need. He isnt hiding as much as he was yesterday, so I'm sure he'll come around. I have been putting a little romaine, bok-choy and some defrosted peas in there for him each day. (10 peas to be exact, so I can count and see if he eats any!!)

His colors are coming back now that he is basking on a regular schedule too!! As soon as my camera charges up I'll post more pics of him
