Het albino/Jungle patterns

zefdin Sep 16, 2005 11:56 AM

I found it very interesting that some previous posters pointed out that their het. albinos had a more jungle look to them with spotting on their lips. I too have noticed this trait in my albino hets. Also, has anyone heard or noticed that het. albinos also have more pronounced vertical white markings? I thought I remember reading an artical awhile back that said they sometimes exhibit this characteristic. These tidbits would make life a little easier if true.

Like pied markers - there is just as much chance of a normal carrying these possible "marker traits" as it is a morph to have them for it to be a reliable tell - I have normal animals that carry pied markers I have normal animals that have spotted lips and high white sides - I have hets that do too. The only way to be sure about anything when it comes to snakes is partially relying on the parentage of the snake but mostly by breeding it and finding out for yourself what it can do.

True, but when you want to select out specimens to buy or hold back it can't hurt to have a guideline to go by.

I most likely wouldn't buy a 50% Pied female, but if she had the markers and the price was right I might take the chance.
