Odd eating behavior please help

renoballpythons Sep 16, 2005 04:35 PM

I just purchased a whole collection and my only normal female is a beauty, 1300 , beautiful colors, a bit of an attitude though.

I have owned her for 3 weeks and I have yet to make her eat one meal. I have tried just about everything short of force feeding her (which I won't do) and she still won't eat. I noticed that even with a live mouse she will stalk it and strike but as she brings it back to coil it she drops it, or sometimes she just strikes the rat and releases. The rat is very small for her size as well. The cage is humid, she has a hide box, etc.. any suggestions to get her to eat (why does she drop the mouse? She seems to want it but drops it and then ignores it). All of the other snakes in my collection are in the same enviroment and seem to be doing great.

Thanks in advance.
P.S. I kind of miss my old blood python which would pound anything I threw in there even if I had just fed it the day before.

That why them thangs look so large LOL. As to the Ball, give her about a weeks rest(or punishment for not eating, if you will) Then try a live mouse. If that fails give her another week. She can go for a while without if she wants to be stubborn. She should come around eventually.
