wat should i feed baby RES ? it is 1 week old !
I have to say its your fault that you went out and got one without reaserching it first. But anyway 25% of its diet is pellet food, 25% vegatables, and 50% carnivorous. Romaine lettuce, apples, and carrots are good. No goldfish, there are high in fat, small guppies, crickets, and earthworms are also good. Zoomeds Hatchling Aquatic Turtle Food, micro sized pellets, will work, but any other hatchling turtle food will also. Just make sure it has D3 and calcium though. If there are any other questions please ask.
i prefer hagen max turtle gammarus pellets they are small enough for htchlings to eat and have vit d3 and calcium. this is what i raise any hatchlings on and havent had problems. this is a balanced diet. feeding live anything can expose the turtle to all sorts of viruses, fungi, bacteria, everything. these could kill. i like my turtles too much to expose them to things that can kill. live animals also can lead to too much protein which causes pyramiding of the shell. this is why i never feed live to any turtles unless they refuse all types of pellets. i consider reptomin to be the worst pellets because it doesnt have vitd3. vegetables are more for when they are older, about 4" .
Yeah reptomin is probably not good. I have found plenty if websites that say do not feed frozen as it kills the some of the nutrients. If you are sure there are no pesticides or your guppies are in a good clean tank( which is hard to find at ANY petstore) then there isn't anything wrong. If you do use frozen, I have heard that you may want to get a clacium dust, a needle, and inject it into the cricket or guppy or whatever. I cannot veryify this works yet, I have not had any problem feeding live. That is just what I've heard. Yeah I totaly forgot that when young they are more carnivorous, but you should wean it more and more onto vegatables if it is young.
Definitely include veggies in the diet or you will have a hard time getting them to eat them later on. Feeder guppies work fine. They provide excercise and an occasional treat.
