glennbartley Sep 17, 2005 09:11 PM

The LIHS is planning on having its annual expo and show at SUNY Farmingdale in Farmingdale, NY on October 1. Anyone here going, or need any info about the show? It is listed under the events link on the KS home page or you can send me an email at info@lihs.org.

Nice showing of animals. A hobbyist show by and for hobbyists. Meet a lot of good people...maybe buy some nice animals. See you there.

Nice to hear you had a good time last year, I did too. It sure is a show by and for hobbyists. I think one of the best things about it is that there is a judged herp show and, anyone can enter so long as they follow the rules. There are some neat trophies awarded to the winners too.

I've been going every year for the last several years. I'll be there again this year. Do you know how I might find out what vendors are attending this show this year?

Glenn,

I will be at the LIHS SHOW on October 1st as a vendor. I'm looking forward to this year's show - I was a vendor there last year and did really well, and I was surprised at the diversity of animals and displays that were at the show. It is really ahidden gem in the middle of Long Island, very easy to get to from anywhere in the metropolitan area.

Make sure you look me up there.

I can attest to the shows quality and Richard Hume's snakes in particular. I purchased a gorgious blood red corn snake from him 2 years ago and its a "beauty" as Steve the croc man would say.. It has great color, was feeding well right off the bat. And Rich is very knowledgable..... Make sure you look him up ~ Susan Jacob- Northern Va

Thanks for the kind words...

We expect to have 80 Vendor Tables at the show this year. Glad you're all coming back.

I just got back in to reptiles this year. I remember the past shows I’ve been to and I was never disappointed. See you there Rich.

Your so right about this show. I used to live on Long Island and it was always a must show for me. They have ample parking and the room is set up for the vendors very well. Lots of great animals and good buys. I never failed to get a top notch animal for a decent price... They also have animals on display, for their members to compete in prizes, and if you just want a day out with the kids, specially those crazy reptile loving little boys... Its a great show to take them where they can see all kind of species. Many knowledgable people there too... I still have family in that location so Im packing up the car with some extra carriers and Im headed up the show this weekend from Virginia to see what I can pick up..... Its one of the best shows in the tri-state area.... Susan Jacob, Northern Virgina

You can bet I'll be there. We got our first herp, my son's first corn, Bandit, there years ago. I've seen some herps and arachnids there that I haven't seen elsewhere. Imagine my surprise at seeing my first FULL size cane toad! Those are big buddies! And another year, the homebred black widow spiders... I wonder what this year's show will bring? I need some food for my corns and my other herps so I'm bringing my cooler.

See you there!
