?Black Kingsnakes?

the_Ox Sep 17, 2005 09:34 PM

Is there any reason that not many people seem to work with (North American) black kingsnakes? I like those snakes a lot and would like to find a couple CBB, but I have never seen any around. They are kinda the forgotten N.A. kingsnake.

Thanx in advance

Matt

All kingsnakes are in North America....
But if you are referring to Nigra,(an American Kingsnake) then yes there are only a few people working with them....Phil Peak and a few do extensive research on them and should be breeding some locale specific ones.

There are other North American Black Kings such as the Nigritis or Mexican Black King (MBK)...Many people work with them....remember Mexico is still North America......

Sorry for the confusion, I meant L. g. nigra. Yeah, I guess Mexico is North America, duh on me, just didn't want people to think I meant MBK. Actually many of Phil's posts here and on other forums are partially to blame for me gaining interest in that ssp. Anyway, I know some people keep them, but I have never seen any CBB for sale on KS classifieds, or at my local reptile swap.

Thanx

As John said, not many work with them on this forum, but some should become available next year. I think Crimson King (Mark) is starting some up also, see posts earlier.
