Is the question that you are asking, to leave the color, say a normal black & white banded cali king then try to add to the color with say red but still leave the original b/w banding intact.???

below is a 3x cross variable king x graybanded king x ruthvens king, notice that it hasnt changed much from an original Variable banded type, notice the cream color which is being influenced by the grey from the greybanded king. i know its not a black and white snake but you would get like results in the B/W snake with some luck.
Take two good lookers for the type of color adding that your looking for and breed them back to hopefully get better results.

remember this way is the hybrid way. if you want to add color to a normal then first you would have to find one showing some abnormality in the normal color range then line breed for it.

i hope this helps.

Paul..

Taking something alongs the lines of an easstern king and replace the yellow with red. I dont know maybe it cant be done was late the other night and it had just came to mind. Maybe crossing a couple of things?

Just would like to hear what has been done along these lines and others thoughts on it.
