Those look like a Louisiana locality, maybe MS. Do you know?
Isis of Isis reptiles said they were from louisiana. good eye!
What made you think they were from louisiana?

Considering that I work with Lampropeltis g. holbrooki and L.t. syspila almost exclusively, as far as USA snakes anyway, I have learned the different phenotypical appearances of various locales. The holbrooki that inhabit the immediate MS River floodplain along the western part of MS, and the delta region of LA have very prominent crossbars and heavy speckling. The farther west you go into west LA and TX the majority, if not all of them are multispeckled, losing most of the crossbars into maturity. The farther east you go into central MS and north AL they start looking more like nigra, and central AL has some AMAZING snakes, but are seldomly ever, if ever seen in the trade. Anyway, I'll stop now. I just evaluated several characteristics and narrowed them down to a locale along the MS River, but south of the midwest populations.
Thanks for the info. Its always great to talk to someone with locality info. (next time dont stop,i'm not kidding). how many locale of speckleds do you have? please post some pixs.

Right now I have Acadia, LA, Oktibbeha, MS, and Sharkey, MS. I had some Fayette, AL stock that escaped.
I have one specimen from Russell, KS, and plan to ad some more to that group.

""The farther west you go into west LA and TX the majority, if not all of them are multispeckled, losing most of the crossbars into maturity.""
I agree you got a good eye Matt, but.....You are aware that once you past East Texas and go farther west the crossbars are apparent again....These crossbars also reappear the farther you go south into Texas down the coast as well....Splendida influence runs from West central Texas to South east Texas at the coast....
It is interesting to combine information about ranges, intergade zones and the such with these Holbrooki.....Thanks for the tidbits of info Matt...

I was hoping you would throw some tidbits in as well, as I do not know you're local types except the pics you have sent me. I love gathering info on them, and you guys have done some great work on that as well.
I hatched a black and whitre speckled a few years ago. Its eggs are incubating right now. Has anyone ever crossed two pure speckled and hatched one with out the typical yellow? I am wondering how unique this actually is. I have some neat speckled pictures I will post soon.
The speckled king as well as the Eastern Black Kings are my favorite kings. I have the following locale specific speckleds:
Lincoln Cty., Kansas, LaFourche Parish, Loisiana and Brazoria and Harris Cty., Texas.
I hatched out babies from the Lincoln Cty., Kansas and the LaFourche Parish speckleds (two unrelated clutches)this year. I agree with Matt, the speckleds that you have pictured look very similar to the LaFourche Parish speckleds that I just hatched out. I have approximately 16 LaFourche babies.
A while back, Matt Brock spoke about speckleds having an (undeserved) bad reputation. I have to agree with Matt based on my experiences. The majority of speckleds in my collection (11 total snakes from five different locales) are quite mellow. The only snakes that I would consider to be nervous are the two speckled king females that laid eggs for me this year. Both of these were wild caught adults. I have seen this type of behavior in many types of snakes, not just speckled kings.
I welcome any feedback from fellow speckled king enthusiasts. It seems as if the ranks of speckled king enthusiasts is growing (Matt Brock, John Lassiter, Todd (aka: Antelope) and Scott W).
I think that a lot of people are missing out on a great king with regard to the speckled kings. The speckled kings rival the Eastern Kings in variation of color and pattern (in my opinion). The babies in my collection have, for the most part started out on pinks more so than Eastern King babies that I have worked with from Maryland locale. Hopefully more people will take a chance with these underappreciated kings.
I am looking to add different locales to my collection in the near future. If anyone out there is working with Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma or Nebraska speckled kings, please contact me. I am only interested in speckled kings that are legally obtained.

In that case I'll take each the ones you posted. Shall I e-mail you my address?
Those are nice. Good amount of yellow for their age.
