Hamster Wheels

CJBianco Sep 18, 2005 07:37 AM

I need an extra large hamster wheel for my BPs. (They need more exercise in their cages. Right now they just lay around inside their FB hides all day.) Anyone here use one before?

Thanks In Advance,
Chris

they work great until they get their body all the way around and the wheel balances and stops moving. They keep going around but the wheel doesn't move lol.

If you really want to exercise them get one of those laser pens with a mouse projection and move it around the cage.

Now you're just being silly.

You trying to exercise your hamster or your snake? Only real way to exercise your snake is take him out and let him crawl around. Constricting food exercises them as well, though with frozen thawed, not much resistance there. You could dangle and tug the frozen thawed mouse before and after it strikes. Some low climbing structures in his cage could encourage him to do more exploring, providing there is enough cover he feels secure enough within to come out and explore.

actually i think he was going to put the hamster in the cage with the snake and let the snake chase it around the wheel. that way both get exercise.

That would work, for a little while anyway! Then I think the ball would just be fatter.

I don't really have room in my Sterilite boxes (6"H) for any climbing branches. I was just going to lay the hamster wheel down sideways.

I had a desert king that got overheated and wound up, may I say, retarded. He probably would have done great on a sideways hamster wheel.
