Uro days and nights

esara Jul 19, 2003 01:53 AM

Hi! Just wondering how long you keep the days and nights for your uros. Do you do a 12 hours day and 12 hours night? Or do you try to follow the daytime hours of the season where you live? Or should I try to adjust it to natural habitat hours? And in that case, what would those be for a maroccan? I've read about the hours for brumation, but I'm wondering about the standard routines.
Thanks
Sara

I made a habit of waking up and the light turns on, and going to bed and the light goes off...

That's how I´ve been doing it too, but I thought since I have no good routines for putting myself to bed, atleast I should get some for her..

I'm no good when it comes to that either. I'd go 8:00 am to 10:00 pm maybe?

Yeah. 14 hours day light should be ok, shouldn't it. I've been keeping it somewhere around that. Thanks for your help

sara,
my lites are on at 9am and go off at 11pm. i got a timer for the basking lite since that primarily gives off the most lite and heat. if i go out then i can shut out the UVB lite and just leave on teh nite lamp bc the timer takes care of the basking lite. I can't seem to find a timer that handles more than one plug, but you might want to check around by you. If you find a brand let me know.

I'm no uro guru, but my lil guy gets sensitive if his nites and days are not strict, so I would be careful. I'm sure an hour difference isn't gonna bother them, tho.

If your timer only takes one plug, plug a powerbar into it... problem solved.

I have my mali's outside on the patio, and here in Arizona the sun comes up between 5 - 6 a.m. My Blue Tongue skink wakes up with the sun, but my Mali's sleep in till close to 9:00! They miss some of the morning basking light! I know it is plenty warm in their pen, close to 100 degree F once the sun hits it, but they still sleep in!
Lazy guys!
