How many meals(mice) until I should try to switch to rat pinks?

the number of previous meals really doesn't matter, it's the size of your boa. My three foot rainbow boa is having no problems eating rat hoppers (about 2 1/2 week old rat babies). I feed her once a week. Typically, the prey item should be no more than one and a half the size of the thickest part of the snake. There should be a noticeable bulge in the snake after eating, but not a hugely obvious bulge where you can see alot of skin between scales.

Chad,
...Most of my new baby BRBs start off with rat pinks for their first meals. Some of them are more likely to eat small mice and so I let them have the mice but keep trying the rat pinks. Rat pinks are about the same size as large fuzzy and small hopper mice. These size meals are ideal for baby BRBs. I think either of these are equally good meals for little growing BRBs. I prefer feeding them the rats but only because I raise rats and not mice and so I always have rat babies available. Also with the little rats you do not have to worry about the snake being bitten by the rodent. After the snake has eaten 6 or 8 meals it will have grown a little and you can move up to slightly larger fuzzy rats or small skinny adult mice.
