New leo

DeltaWoods Jul 19, 2003 02:28 AM

Well i got my first leo yesterday. It came at about 9:45am on a UPS truck. It explored and walked around the tank for about the first hour before finally walking into the dry hide and staying there. It looks very healthy and alert. I tried feeding later that night and she easily ate 8 half inch crickets. By the way it is a jungle morph from John at L.I Reptiles who was extremely helpfup with everything. I'll have pictures soon.

p.s. any name suggestions?

Beautiful animal!!! You must be very proud!

One thing I see in your tank setup is a heat rock. If you already know about heat rocks...Great. If not, please be careful as some heat rocks will burn (cook) the underbelly of a lizard if it gets too hot. You can use a regulater for the rock to regulate the heat to about 88-90 degrees. Also, they sometimes generate hot spots even though the overall rock is at 88 degrees. I believe a UTH (under tank heater) would be better for the leopard geckos.

Anyway, congrats on the new family member. I know you'll have years of enjoyment together.
