I know of a couple guys in San Antonio who keep boas, burms, and retics...so I would say no problem.

There is no law restricting ownership at the state level. Even though the state required each county to either ban or require permits on a long list of animals, large snakes were removed from the list. However, MANY municipalities have bans on all Boas and Pythons regardless of size. Most DFW cities have bans except for Arlington. Just because you know of someone that owns an animal in a city does not mean it is legal. These laws are unenforecable on a grand scale, but your neighbors can report you and then you will face fines or criminal charges depending on the law. Another reason not to parade snakes around.

Check oue municode.com. Follow the links for "Online Library" and select Texas. Maybe your city will be listed. You can usually find what you need to know under General Regulations or Animal Services etc.
