Giant agressive Aptor

sun_king Sep 18, 2005 09:30 PM

Have anyones aptor males been overly aggressive with their females. I am worried that my 100 gram male will destroy my females. He seems to have that killer instint in him if you know what i mean. And i am being conservative when i say 100 gram. I picked him up in Daytona from Ron himself.

Not that I've found or heard of.

How old is he, by the way?

He may not like YOU, but may be fine with the females. Totally different deal. And yeah, leo mating always looks pretty rough & rugged, but that's life.

How big are the girls?

If he's old enough and the girls are of proper size, just do a test run. If either are too young/light, don't bother.

Sorry to be repetitive...
1) What do you mean by "aggressive"?
2) How old is he?
3) Have you tried to intro. him to females and he's still very aggressive??
4) How old & how heavy are your females you wish to pair him with?

He is @ year old. He is not at all agressive towards me just the ladies. The normal females are between 50-70 grams and the Giant girls are @ 90-100 grams. I am just worried he will hurt one of them being a little to rough in his pursuits. He is an absolute monster and is @ size of Moose. He is an incredible looking leo with a cool stripe running all the way down his tail. Glad i went to Daytona to pick him up.....

hey Joe, sounds a beauty to me can we see a pic if possible? Is this your first time trying to breed??? If so your probably just a little scared for your females, i was! I find it best to put the female inside the males enclosure and normally if the female is ready mating should occur practically str8 away. if it does not then you can leave her in there with him but keep a close eye for any major bites. If that is still no good try introducing him into the females enclosure. Hope this helps some.

I will get pic up when my digi camera(nikon coolpix995) gets back in town. Loaned it to my parents Saturday when they went to South America for vacation. I have been breeding leo's for @ 10 years now. Even been to Albeys house(suggested the cool pix995) a few times when i lived in Atlanta. That is where a good portion of my original stock came from. And it is just that this guy is soooo damm big it worries me. I have other Giants I have gotten from Ron Tremper but none have been this huge.

Hmm...? if you been breeding for 10 years then i can't really say much to help you out buddy? I only tried breeding this year with bad results! Guess you will just have to try him or maybe ask Ron himself? Let us know though and cant wait for the pic of him!

No offence, but if you have been breeding leos for 10 years, you would know that a male being aggressive with females during breeding time is quite normal and you would also know that putting a male in with a female is not a life threatening situation for either party.... I would like to see a pic of this 100 gram APTOR that is the size of Moose.... Sounds very impressive
