What is the difference between RTB, BCC, BCI.
RTB= red tail boa
Bcc= boa constrictor constrictor
Bci= boa constrictor imperator
Bcc and Bci are the abreviations for two of the sub species of boa constrictor.
hope this helps,
jon
which are the best type to get im going to get afew boas an a show thats coming up
If this is going to be your first boa then I would suggest getting a colombian BCI. they are a good boa to learn from.
i had a redtail before but was just told it wasa redtail
most likely the 'redtail' you had was a bci, espeicailly if you got it from a pet store or something and they just called it a redtail. i would say to make your choice on personal ability and experience and preference. if you are looking for a designer boa or an easy to care for boa if you are not confident in your husbantry skills then go for a bci as they tend to be more forgiving and tolerable to not so perfect conditions. if you are into the appearance of any of the bcc species then they are a good choice also but just be aware that they can be a little more difficult in the husbantry department. on a side note, if size is a constraint for you then deffinately look into one of the smaller species such as hog island or cay caulkers (sorr if there is a spelling error there) as they will not get as large as adults as some of the other species.
I am looking for a snake sub 7' 8'. I want acolorful snake, that is docile. I am going to get a Brazilian rainbow, and i want to get one or two more i have some ideas like argentine, hog. what are some other nice snakes out there in the sategory i described
well in my opinion, brazilian rainbow boas are more difficult to care for than any of the bcc or bci mainly because of their need for high humidity. but as far as which other boa species you should get, a male from any of the species such as bci, argentine, or bcc should stay under eight feet, a female however will most likely exceed your eight foot limit, so i would look for either a smaller species like i mentioned or a male of any of the other species. and just to be sure, im assuming your not planning on housing these snakes together as this is not known to be good practice especially with the extreme differences in housing requirements between the BRB and any other form of BCI or BCC. just adding that in for precaution, good luck and maybe browse the classifieds or photo gallery to help make your decision.
