The eggs have been laid!

SanClementeSnake Sep 19, 2005 09:02 AM

My adult gopher snake laid six healthy eggs last night! I hvae a few questions about incubating the eggs. I have an incubator. I found a website that said between 74 and 82 degrees, also it said to spray the vermiculite once a week. I am using spagnum moss instead because this was unexpected and thats all I could come up with. Also how long should I expect for the eggs to hatch? Thanks for any help at all.

Justin

I never have used moss so I cant answer your question about the misting, but I can tell you that close to 100 percent humidity has always worked well for me. If your eggs start to shrivel up or get little creases or dents in them its usually a sighn they need more water, if you raise the humidity level up they will go back to normal. As far as temperature goes I keep mine at about 82 degrees f. If the temperature is a few degrees higher or lower you will be fine, just dont go above 90 or below 65. My eggs usually hatch in about 65 days.
Good luck let us know what happens,
WES
