VENOM OF Bothriechis schlegeli

Toomas Sep 19, 2005 10:56 AM

I search any information about Bothriechis schlegeli. Also about venom. How strong is the venom of Bothriechis schlegeli for man, if bite juvenile or adult specimen. Have all species of Bothriechis similar venom or their venom have different effect for man?

All Venomous Snakes have the potential to deliver a fatal bite. The smaller snakes in this Genus have powerful venom that reaks havoc in the area surrounding the bite. Loss of digits or even a limb is possible. Snake venom even within a species vary from region to region depending on the prevelent prey items and other environmental factors. Arborials strike very far compared to terrestrial snakes, it's very easy to misjudge and end up bitten.

Good Luck,

Al
